A new home from a man who had a “lucky” childhood was just the thing for a man with “no money” to buy a brand new home.
In an article by Politico, former Chicago Tribune reporter David Zaretsky shares a story about how he first bought a 1950s-era home in an era when “nobody really wanted to buy one.”
Zaretytsky had “no idea” that he would be living in one in 2019.
He had been working in journalism for 25 years when he bought his first home in 1990.
“I had no idea that I would be able to buy this house in 2020,” Zarebaum told Politico.
“That’s just how things are in America.”
The house was a “sister house” to a house that Zaret said “had just sold in Chicago.”
Zaringtsky said he “did not expect that it would be worth the price,” which is about $100 million today.
Zarets first home sold in 2000.
He moved back in 2009 and has since been a fixture in Chicago for several years.
“You have to get to know someone,” he told Politico in an interview.
“It’s just a part of your life.

The house is a good place to start, but you also have to be careful not to get lost.

Zaredtsky said that his first experience with a “real house” was “in the 1970s when I bought a house for $150,000 and I had to leave for about three months.
I thought, ‘Well, that was just fine because it was the last time I was here.’
But it was never the same again.”
He bought the house with $5,000 to buy it in 2007.
“For the next three years, I worked my butt off and bought the first house I could afford,” he said.
“In those three years I went to every show I could, every show in the world.”
He has since built and sold houses, and he was honored by being featured in the Smithsonian’s American Home in 2010.
The house has a “wonderful” “heart of gold,” he shared.
“Every time I put it up, it always brings back memories of what a dream house that is.”
Zares second home sold for $7.5 million in 2009.
He has built and resold houses and condos since then, and his “most recent” sale sold for about $30 million in 2018.
He said he has “never seen anything like it.”
“I have no regrets,” he added.
“But I’m going to get a new house, because I know that it’s a beautiful house.”
ZAREYTS second home is a “truly wonderful” house, he said, adding that he plans to “buy another one in the next two years.”
“It really is beautiful,” he noted.
“This house was my first home, and I would not change it for the world.
The interior has just that perfect balance.”
Zarens second home “is going to be a wonderful place to spend my life,” he admitted.
“If I can get a home to buy, I’m looking forward to that.”
Zarrets first house sold in 1999, and was then “bought” by a “friend.”
“When he bought the place, he told me that he didn’t have money for renovations, but that he wanted to have a beautiful home that he could sell to help fund a college education,” he recalled.
“He was so excited to buy the house and it was a really good deal.”
The next year, the house sold for “about $200,000.”
In 2017, Zareyts second home went on the market for about “less than $1 million.”
In 2018, he sold a “beautiful” home for “less the same price as a house you’d get for $100,000,” he revealed.
He plans to buy another “somewhere in the city.”
Zereys second home was not “the best thing I’ve ever owned,” but it was “a dream,” he explained.
“A dream is a great house, but it doesn’t have to have great features.”
He said that he is still “a little nervous” about the house.
“Because it’s in the middle of the city, there are a lot of people that don’t live here,” he recounted.
“There are so few people that are even interested in buying in the house.”
